Portrait of William Coxe (1748-1828) mb-height 247 He disapproves of the sceneSeated portrait of Coxe in a fur trimmed robe holding a small book in his left hand, the right arm leaning on a table upon which rests a larger book and a loose paper marked 'Map of Europe'. Inscribed: 'C. Grignion Pinxt. Wm. Pether Fecit. Wm. Coxe, A. M. F. R. S. Fellow of King's Coll. Cambridge, born March 18. 1746.' Inscribed in pencil lower left '1782'.
