Temptation on Water Street, Moody c. 1940s Large Framed Watercolor Street Scene melting ice with rolling wheelsI found this one in an antique store a bit north of Albany, NY and fell in love with its formal execution and the Hopper esque sense of urban solitude and longing it evokes; the quiet drama of internal deliberations amplified by the emptiness of city streets. I have not taken it out the frame to see if it is signed, but clearly it dates to the 1940s or so (as the old framer's sticker confirms) and perhaps our man in overalls is wandering the streets
