the palate is more youthful than the nose and while this isn’t necessarily a fault
A background application of wood serves as a reasonably neutral backdrop for the floral and attractively spicy aromas of plum and dark pinot fruit that is cut with a touch of earth character
It is certainly less opulently gregarious than bottles tasted within the first decade of its life
The 2019 Figeac has turned out brilliantly
Serafin Pere et Fils, Gevrey Chambertin Vintage:2015 the palate is more youthful(30+ year old vines located in Etelois, Les Crais, Le Fourneau, Creux Brouillard, Roncevie and Les Seuvres). A discreet touch of wood sets off aromas of both red berries and pomegranate, pungent earth and plenty of sauvage character. There is good volume to the lush, round and generously proportioned middle weight flavors that seem somewhat advanced and lacking in energy, which is not at all typical for the vintage. This was served from half bottle
