I found this charming little wooden Japanese Kokeshi-type boy on turtle in a box of odds and ends at the estate sale of a man who had served in Japan during WWII and brought a lot back with him

Largest (including two planes together at bottom right) measures 6 1/2" x 4 5/8"

As it stands--and it stands vertically on its own--I think it makes a pretty interesting object to set on a shelf or add to a collection of carvings

One looks to have been charred, in a rather decorative manner, so I might think intentionally. Pretty sweet. Longer: 7 7 8" l. Shorter: 7 1 4" l. Sold as a pair.
