There is a horizontal scratch across the middle and a bit of additional surface scratching as documented

I don't believe it is very old (I found another with the same fox and a pewter lid being sold online by a German importer)

and to my eye this is a great beauty

visible through a little cutout window at the center of either side

They are woodblock prints of kimono textile designs by F uruya Krin, also known as Krin Furuya, and Furutani Krin, 18751910, a Japanese artist, illustrator, and designer active in the Kyoto arts and crafts circle in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
