Edwin Kosarek 1950 Erongaricuaro Drawing - Portrait as Map of Michoacan language and clearly madeI think his drawings were so good, lyrical and true feeling, and consistently inventive and surprising and this one combines two of my favorite things one: a portrait and a map! A point near the top of the head of this woman in profile is labeled Erongarcuaro (which means "Place of waiting" in the Purepecha language), a town in the Mexican state of Michoacan, and then down the train track like line to her wrist is the famous colonial town of Ptzcuaro.
