Watermelon tourmaline gets its banding from shifts in the chemistry of the crystal as it grew, pink at the core and green at the rim. Cut across the crystal, that history shows as a single slice. The gold around it is left raw edged and irregular so the setting reads as formed rather than fitted. Sculpted in wax and cast in recycled 14k gold in our Joshua Tree studio, then set and
