Silk thread on silk ground, hand dyed I believe, making me think this earlyish 19th century, I'd think done by a girl fairly early on in developing her embroidery skills. The feathers of the wings are quite glorious, like flame stitching, but it's the funny beak and dangling little feet that really get me. Love.
