Pennsylvania German 1856 Devotional, Herz Des Menschen (The Heart of Man), with Best Cover and Engravings articulated doll but I'm constantly struck byThis completely thrilled me when I found it, at an antique shop that was my first stop on Pennsylvania last week. I was sold on the cover alone, but then a series of engravings inside very closely related, each as good as the next, and making me think of antique retablo paintings as much as anything, very gothic! Photos give a good sense, though the yellow of the cover is all the richer and more dramatic feeling in hand. The book is the Christian
