Kent State Golden Flashes splinter Ratified in January of 1919The Golden Flashes date back to 1926, when Kent State held a contest for a new mascot. From a golden retriever named Flasher to a cartoon character named Grog to a golden palomino, the Golden Flash has been many things over KSUs history; in 1985, the school settled on a golden eagle named Flash, who has been the official mascot ever since. Pay homage.
