The way that it is painted makes the goat appear rather more like a symbol than an actual thing

Perfect hung on the wall from the handle to or from a letter with the handle hanging down

and would have been used for grain and flour

Antique Tintype of Handsome Painter (?) in Overalls with Etched Order On Reverse printmaking and quite an old oneI've been trying to figure out what the text scratched into the back of this tintype might indicate but don't have an answer. It looks like an occupational photo of sorts to me, with this handsome man in bowler and paint spattered overalls suggesting perhaps a painter to me or maybe the "bust" described on the back of the tintype refers to a sculpture, and our man works in plaster. Certainly it seems like a job that is being described "Order #240"
