though he also looks a bit as if he might be just-in from a long day fishing out in the rain or snow

I've come to recognize standard programs of drawing exercises for grade school students during various decades, and have had one other chair drawing of a similar ilk to this one, which I believe was part of the program during that period, an exercise in perspective I believe. I love it very much as a stand alone drawing one
