2020 | El Escocés Volante Mataquemada | Calatayud Champagne Gaston Chiquet Rare is moving their ChampagneThere is a new old vine Garnacha 2020 Mata Quemada from the village of Torrijo de la Caada, a marginal and wetter zone of Calatayud closer to Soria where, in the past, there were three million kilos of grapes and now there are only four plots of vines, only two of them planted with Garnacha. This is at 980 meters in altitude on slate soils and the grapes ripen slowly and later, planted mostly with 80% to 85% Garnacha with some Bobal and white grapes.
